Etnia's DNA

EVERLASTING HERITAGE

CREATING GLASSES FOR THREE GENERATIONS

In the 1950s, Fulgencio Ramo—grandfather of David Pellicer, who is the current owner of the company—created his first eyewear factory. His children helped out there and quickly acquired all of the know-how of the business to take over the reins. This second generation designed, created and distributed the glasses all over Spain, but it was not until the 1990s when David Pellicer joined the company with the dream of creating something new.

2001: ETNIA BARCELONA IS BORN

AN INDEPENDENT EYEWEAR BRAND

David brought color to a product that, up until that point, had only been brown or black. If there was one thing he knew, it was that he did not want to dedicate his efforts to just manufacturing glasses; he wanted something more. That something was creating a brand. A brand that embodied the idea of being free, human and respectful towards all ethnicities. He wanted a brand that thought of all people and forms of expression through color and art. That’s how Etnia Barcelona was born.

BARCELONA

THE CITY THAT INSPIRES US

Barcelona plays an important role in our history as it has witnessed the birth and growth of our company. It’s a city that is open to the world, innovative, rebellious and visionary. It’s a dynamic city that evolves at the speed of light, but that never forgets where it came from. Barcelona has forged our character and our way of doing things. A brand that always looks forward without forgetting its roots.

PREMIUM MATERIALS

MINERAL LENSES AND NATURAL ACETATE

For three generations, quality has been and continues to be fundamental. We control the entire process from beginning to end, scrutinizing every detail to ensure quality standards are met. Additionally, we work with the best materials on the market, such as pure mineral glass lenses from Barberini and HD Colors technology, as well as natural acetate from Mazzucchelli.

Etnia House of Arts

ETNIA HOUSE OF ARTS TRANSFORMS A 10TH-CENTURY CHURCH INTO ITS CREATIVE SPACE

Etnia House of Arts is Etnia Barcelona’s new cultural and artistic platform in Venice, located in the recently restored Chiesa dell’Abbazia della Misericordia. Conceived as a living space for contemporary creation, Etnia House of Arts fosters encounters between artists, disciplines, and ideas. A place where art transcends exhibition to become process, dialogue, and shared experience. Here, art is not a final outcome but a living process. The works are not only displayed; they are born, evolve, and find new ways of connecting creator and observer. An open creative ecosystem dedicated to exchange, experimentation, and the narratives that shape our time.

ETNIA BARCELONA FOUNDATION

the adventure starts here

We fight for the right to sight around the world. Since 2016, we help improve the visual health of people who do not have access to proper optical care due to lack of resources by providing glasses through different projects.

WORKING TOWARDS A BETTER FUTURE

For years, we have been working to be a more sustainable and ethical brand. From natural raw materials to our social project with the Etnia Barcelona Foundation. But we know that this is not enough, and that’s why each day, we strive for our legacy to be leaving a more sustainable future that respects people and the environment.
